thelibster: basslines and transcriptions Click on the link above for some notated bass lines - I have arranged lots of music for Australian Idol, and some of the bass charts and accompanying recordings from the show can be found here. amongst other goodies. The bassist on Australian Idol is my great mate, Mark Costa, and he always respects what I tell him to play :-) Mark usually sticks closely to the charts or beef them up subtly, unless the Idol contestant decides to change everything five minutes before the show. It's worth checking back to the Basslines page occasionally as it's ultraquick for me to update. Here are some transcriptions. This page is pretty much the same as the Basslines page, except that here the music closely resembles the original studio recording - in the Basslines section you will find bass arrangements that have been used in real-life situations - some are close to the originals and some are quite different. There are also sound files accompanying the basslines. These transcriptions were done quite a while ago so the publishing isn't 100% - I'm way better at it now :-). The Basslines section has much better looking charts! By the way, a quick note on transcribing - it doesn't really mean anything unless you know and understand what the chords are as well as the notes. Without understanding the harmony,
you're not really gaining all that much that's useful from the whole exercise. Go here for more info on how to transcribe.
If you have any transcriptions that you'd like to add,
feel free to email them to me.
The more the merrier.
I've had a few Tower of Power transcriptions up here before, but I can't seem to find them. Oh well!
