thelibster: contribute

These days I'm very limited in how much time I can dedicate to new lessons & site content so this is a bit of a shout out to anyone who would like to contribute to the site. If you have any music or written lessons that you think might be at home here, you are welcome to contribute - of course you will get full credit. The only criteria is that anything that goes on the site has to be reasonably user-friendly and accurate, and doesn't completely contradict the content of the existing lessons. (Not that they are perfect, but I don't want to confuse anyone).

I'm currently working on a site backend that enables browser-based uploads to the various sections, so that's something that will come in handy with site contributors. At the moment, contributions will have to be via email. It doesn't matter if you're music examples are done by hand as long as they are legible - just scan them and make pdfs or jpgs.

If you have written content you'd like to add then send your stuff as a pdf, or plain text - pdfs are easiest. Notated music is ok to send as a .jpg or .pdf. If you want to send sound files, (only original ones), send me an email first - I can organize ftp uploads if they are really big.

If anyone has any original video content that's relevant, there's plenty of room for it here. Technical close ups would be great - and also vids of things being played really slowly as the fast stuff can be hard to digest for an up-and-comer. If it's just you having a wa... showing off, you'd be probably better off putting it on You Tube. No offense, but this probably isn't the place for your home made smut films either - try Limewire.

At the moment I'm having a crisis as I can't find some of the stuff that people contributed to the old version of the site. Someone once sent me quite a few Tower of Power charts, but they've gone the way of the dodo. It's all a tad distressing - it's like when I lose my glasses, and I can't see anything so I can't find them. Not to worry.

One last thing - a massive amount of work has gone into the contents of this site over many years and the material has always been available for you to download and use free of charge. I also know that hundreds of teachers have found this stuff useful, which is just as well really, because I wouldn't have wanted to be just typing away to myself all this time! Anyway, if you've profited at all from the site and you are cashed up, I'm not going to complain if you send in a Libster site donation, (my company name is "Buzzaweb" by the way). That's the only way I can really justify spending anymore time adding more lessons to the site.

CYA,

Libster
